Muppets, Cake Pops, and Ducks

This weekend we gave my parents a little break by having Morgan and Preston over Friday night. (This is actually something we try to do on a monthly basis.) For some reason Morgan and Preston LOVE coming over to our house and doing nothing. haha, yep usually when they come we'll just eat dinner, play video games, and watch a movie. This time wasn't much different. First we fed them a very well balanced dinner of mac & cheese and then headed to the movies to see The Muppet's.

We also took our little neighbor Kaitlin

After the movie we all had some yummy Rootbeer floats. Then the boys played a little Xbox while Morgan and I attempted to make some cake pops. I think they turned out pretty cute.

The next morning we woke up late, had breakfast, and then decided to take Milo to the park. The kids had fun feeding the ducks while Milo was having a nervous breakdown because he wanted to have at the ducks.

Chelsie then came and took Morgan and Preston to enjoy a full day of more spoiling. Who says the youngest kids have it rough?

The rest of the weekend Ryan and I decided to just take it easy. Lately our weekends have been jam-packed and it was nice to just relax and spend some quality time with each other. We first went furniture shopping. It's our goal after the summer to get new couches for our family room. It was fun to go to different furniture stores and narrow down what we like and what we don't.

After some window shopping we had dinner, pulled our futon mattress into the family room and watched the movie Cry, the Beloved Country which led us to discover that Milo is racist. Seriously, the second a little black girl started talking Milo freaked out at the TV, growling and barking more than we have ever seen him do. Weird huh? And pretty much the entire movie his hair was standing on the back of his neck, we had to constantly calm him down. We are going to start watching more movies with black actors so we can cure him of his.... whatever it is. On a happier note, it was SO fun watching the movie with Ryan. I've seen the movie and read the book before but not with Ryan. He knew the Zulu they were speaking meant throughout the movie so it was fun having him interpret. (The movie takes place in South Africa which is where Ryan served his mission.)

We also finished the Book of Mormon as a couple for the second time on Thursday. I have LOVED the opportunity to read with Ryan. We try to read a chapter every night, and while we are definitely not perfect, it has been such a support for our marriage. I just love the Book of Mormon.

Sunday we went to my parents for Sunday dinner, something that used to be a weekly occurrence but with everything that's been going on lately we had not been for three weeks. It was fun catching up and just spending time with my family. After dinner watched the extended edition of the Lord of the Rings Two Towers, which Stewart practically had memorize. It was a fun night.

  5. It's so true. Kaity your comment was super witty. Ryan and I were laughing about Milo being black for a while! And they are super yummy. But even more than that the possibilities are endless with how cute they can be. Here's the blog that taught me how http://www.bakerella.com/hope-these-put-a-smile-on-your-face/. She's got some SUPER cute ideas on her blog.
